| | Can VPC and VMWare share VHDs? Been thinking it's past time to take a closer look at VMWare. To what extent can I use the same VHDs with the two? Am I stuck building new VMs from scratch with VMWare? Thanks! -- ..NET: It's About Trust! http://vfred.mvps.org |

But you *MUST* first uninstall any VM Additions you might have installed in the guest. Additions from VPC are not compatible with VMWare at all, they have their own technique called VMWare Tools. VMWare has an option to use a VHD disk file from VPC so you should simply be able to create a new machine and point it to the VHD file and go from there. -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |

However, the emulated hardware is different for the different VMs. You may end up having to do a repair install to get the OS drivers installed and active for the emulated hardware in the VM server to which you migrated the VM file. http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/ |
