| | Internet access with the browser Using Virtual PC 2007, I have created a 2003 R2 SP2 Standard Server guest machine . The host machine is also a 2003 SP2 Standard server. I have the Virtual NIC set up using DHCP, getting the address from our internal DHCP server. I have access to our internal network and I can use nslookup to see sites outside (msn.com, google.com, etc.) from the guest machine. My problem is that I cannot browse to any sites on the internet. I get an "Address not valid" in the title bar of IE7 and the address bar displays "http:///" when IE finally times out. In the settings for the guest, I am not using Shared Networking (NAT). I am using the NIC of the host and using the MAC address of the NIC on the guest to pull from our DHCP server. Any ideas on why the browser on the guest is not working? Thanks, Chris |

| | Re: Internet access with the browser Try entering the DNS server IP addresses manually. VPC and Win2003 guests sometimes have this problem... -- Bob Comer On Thu, 5 Mar 2009 08:24:04 -0800, Chris W <Chris W@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Using Virtual PC 2007, I have created a 2003 R2 SP2 Standard Server guest >machine . | | RE: Internet access with the browser Thanks for the suggestion. I manually put in my DNS server information, but unfortunately it made no difference. I also tried to manually put in a public DNS IP information that I found mention of, and that also made no difference in the behavior. | | Re: Internet access with the browser That sounds very strange -- like it's an INET problem on the guest OS, but I have no idea how to figure out what's going on remotely... You might go at it from that angle and search for similar problems with Win2003 R2 on Microsoft's site. (doesn't matter if it's a VM or on real hardware) -- Bob Comer On Thu, 5 Mar 2009 11:54:14 -0800, Chris W <ChrisW@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Thanks for the suggestion.
