| | Moving Virtual PC I want to reformat and install the original software that came with my Gateway Laptop running Vista Home. I also have Virtual PC installed running XP and other software that was not compatible with Vista. Is it possible to move Virtual PC to a portable hard drive and use it from there on a different computer, then move it back to the laptop after the reformat? Thanks for any info!!! Tom |

Think of them like documents. Just copy the virtual machine's folder onto the portable drive... Obviously, like Word and Excel, any machine into which you plug the portable drive will need to have Virtual PC installed... -- Mark Rae ASP.NET MVP http://www.markrae.net |

This make force you to reactivate. Also, unless you have the same family CPU on both machines, don't move your VMs in a saved state, shut them down. If you're not sure, it's always easier to move VMs successfully when powered off. -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ |
