Any ideas on how you get the virtual PC to recognize a USB device???

Many thanks.

Virtual PC for Windows doesn't support USB devices other than those which it
recognises via emulation (e.g. USB mice and keyboards) and those which can
be made available by network redirection (e.g. memory sticks, external hard
disks).

VMware Server and VirtualBox are free.
Not sure about WMware and USB, but VirtualBox handles USB.
Only expect maintenance upgrade of VirtualPC.

All versions of VMWare (other than ESX) fully support USB.

And 64-bit guests.

And Linux.

And furthermore VMWare Player and VMWare Server are free downloads too
like VPC2007 and VS2005 from Microsoft. :-)

VPC will die for sure if it does not gain support for 64-bit guests. IMHO, USB
support is a must also. And better Linux support would be nice.

If the purpose of a free VPC is to entice the novice virtualization user into MS
virtualization products, then it seems to me that it must support the features
that people want and need.
