windows server 2003 server enterprise edition and virtual PC

Hi
I have windows server 2003 enterprise edition SP2 and I would like to
intall the trial version of windows XP for the MCDST training purpose, I
realize that the operating system I have does not allow me to install virtual
PC 2007, what should I do? I am afraid of loosing my windows server 2003 so I
am thinking of installing the trial version virtualy. Is there anything
similar to virtual PC 2007 I can use for the windows server 2003 enterprise
edition?

Thanks

Samnachilomo.

What in the world are you talking about?
Why not just install VPC2007SP1 and create the virtual machine and get
going?
Are you referring to a message about your operating system not being
"supported"? That does not mean it won't work, just that you cannot
call in and ask for Microsoft phone support, nothing more.

VPC works fine under Windows 2003 Server. Its not a supported setup
for production systems, but it works.

Virtual Server is supported under Windows Server. However, you don't
get some of the extra features you would with VPC, shared folder, drag
and drop, dynamic video resolution change.

Re: windows server 2003 server enterprise edition and virtual PC

windows 2003 server enterprise edition is not mentioned as a host operating
system for VPC 2007 that is why I asked if I can use something different.
see the link below for physical computer and host operating system
requirements for VPC 2007.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow...pc/sysreq.mspx

"Host operating system: Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise,
Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Windows Server
2003 Standard x64 Edition, Windows XP Professional, or Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition"

This should *really* be in the FAQ!
Every week people ask the same thing over and over again just because
MS has decided to word the warning to state that running VPC2007 in
some non-listed Windows versions is not supported.

The exact meaning of not supported is as I wrote in my original reply:

So unless you are a big spender of $$$ by calling Microsoft Support
when you have a problem you will not miss out on anything by
installing on an OS where there is no support. Just ask tecxhnical
questions here, but first please do a decent search. For example you
could type in the exact message you are getting into Google...
