Unable to connect to an internal server

Dear all, I am using for my work a marine navigation program called Navi
Sailor 3000 by Transas. In order to have it with me while on board of
different vessels I decided to virtualize it.
Almost everything works fine, except for the info function.
It should display info about objects on marine charts when clicking but,
instead of seeing data, the window dispalys the standard page of a failed
internet connection.
To be more precise the window does not belong to IE, but opens inside the
Transas program.
I suppose that a network configuration problem is behind the problem, but I
am not experinced enough to find it.
Any Suggestion?

thanks and best regards
Piero

If you run the same program on a real physical PC while this PC is
*not* connected to a network, is the result the same?
You could test by unplugging your network cable on the physical PC
where you test this.

If this is indeed the case then you are probably dealing with a
program that requires Internet access in order to function correctly
and you might have trouble getting it to work on-board a vessel at
sea....

In general terms the virtual machine will use the host PC network
adapter to gain network access (it is the default configuration to use
the host NIC also in the guest). So you must have full Internet access
to your host network adapter for it to work.

Thanks Bo, I forgot to specify that, while working from a real PC, the
program works perfectly even if not connected to a network. You are quite
correct about connecting problems from a vessel :-)))
