Use VPC to run 32 bit programs

Hi

I have Vista Ultimate 64, if I install VPC can I install a copy of XP 32 so
I can run my Scanner which does not have a 64 bit driver?

thanks

Daniel

If the scanner is connected by USB and has a USB driver from its
manufacturer then no, you cannot do this.
VPC2007 virtual machines do not know anything about USB because the
USB subsystem is not emulated in the VPC hardware.

You might be better off looking at VMWare WorkStation (not free) or
other virtualization products instead. I use VMWare for exactly this
reason and I can connect USB devices like software dongles and the
like and they work just fine in this environment. Not possible with
*ANY* Microsoft virtualization product!

Right, I was not sure that Player had the full USB support also, but I
guess you're correct here. :-)

Which then is kind of strange considering both are MS products....

Not if you're on the MSFT "upgrade" treadmill!

(There's a reason they call them "stress tests.")
