I get as far as:-
"Setup is preparing to install Windows."
"CDR101 : Not ready reading drive D.
Abort,Retry,Fail?"
I get the same after ejecting & reinserting my Windows 98se CD in the I:
drive of my PC.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you certain that your boot floppy has the correct entries in its
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files to install the CD driver...?

Please let me confirm that you have a boot disk of Windows 98 se .... Please make it sure that you can not install the older version of windows in the same drive. However ... you may alos do the following steps :
Turn on your computer
Insert the disk and press F10 of your key board ,, this will pop up the disk boot deviice , select cd rom and porceed with the instructions...
