Copying 98se files

I've been following Steve Jain's "Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Technical
Reference" - http://vpc.essjae.com. Also downloaded & used Steve's "Windows
98 ready VMC and VFD."

All went well till the stage where the files on a Windows 98se CD had to be
copied from the host machine's drive I: to C:\WIN98 in Windows98SE Package
virtual pc.

C:\WIN98>copy i:\win98\*.*
then Enter results in
Invalid drive specification.

The host CD drive is not the same drive letter in the virtual
machine...

Btw you could also make an ISO file from the CD and use this in the
virtual machine instead. Just dragdrop the ISO file to the CD icon in
the bottom of the virtual machine's window.
Making ISO files from CD:s is easy using Winimage (www.winimage.com)

IIRC, the drive letter for the CD in the Win98 VM is E:, not I:
The drive letter used by the host is irrelevant inside the VM.

Are you using a CD or an ISO image?

Re: Copying 98se files

Hi Allan,

I take it that you have installed the Virtual PC additions? Also, is your CD
controller under the setup for the VM set to use the secondary IDE channel?
