Running Outlook 2003 and 2007 with virtualisation

I run training events and need to use both outlook 03 and 07 (although not at
the same time) from the same demo laptop. I run Windows xp Pro sp3 on this
laptop. I have licences for office 2003 and 2007.

Would it be possible for me to run both versions of Outlook on this laptop
using virtualPC?
Many thanks

VirtualPC and other virtualization products are used to create
complete and isolated PC:s that can run separately from the base PC on
the same hardware.
They are NOT geared towards isolation of applications within a single
PC.

So, yes, you can do what you want provided you are prepared to do it
correctly:
1) Install VPC2007 on your laptop
2) Create two virtual mavchines within VPC2007
3) Buy and install two licenses of Windows (XP Pro) on these virtual
machines
4) Install Office 2003 in one of them (with the proper license)
5) Same for Office 2007 on the second virtual machine

Now you can start one or the other of the virtual machines when you
want to use one or the other of the Office versions.

But as you can see it really involves setting up two new PC:s (even
though they are both virtual PC:s) including the operating system and
all applications you need...

Re: Running Outlook 2003 and 2007 with virtualisation

Thanks Bo. Because you say virtualisation is not geared to running separate
isolated applications (like Outlook 03 and 07) within a single pc It looks
like there would be very little advantage to me running virtual machines to
achieve my objective. I may as well use a stripped down spare laptop loaded
with XP and Office for running events specifically requiring Outlook 07. We
use Office / Outlook 03 within the business and have no immediate plans to
migrate to 07 yet.
Thanks
