| | WinXP Guest under WinXP Host VPC2007 Sound missing I have reinstaled a WinXp guest under VPC 2007 running in a WinXP host. I cant get the sound to work. I have tried reloading the sound driver - no success. What should I check next? -- Alan Cameron |

The necessary sound drivers are included with WinXP, trying to install others is bad juju. Remove any drivers you installed, reboot, and reinstall the VM Additions, you shouldn't need to do more than that. -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ |

It baffles me. I have other guest PCs which have also stopped emitting sound so perhaps the problem is in the host? It is performing normally emits sounds etc. I am not aware of having changed anything related to sound in the host but there might have been something in recent MS updates? I will try to check the drivers to see if there is an incompatibility. -- Alan Cameron |

Does the soundcard show up in the VM as working in Device Manager? -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ |

Exactly how I don't know. Perhaps me changing all the possible selections and re-booting cured it. I will never know - but I will keep in mind the help I got from all readers. -- Alan Cameron |
