very slow vcp and other questions

What can I do to make my vpc run normally?
The host is vista with
284gb of ram
6gb of memory
64bit operating system (downloaded 64bit vcp)
Intel Core 2quad cpu Q6660 2.40ghz

Also is it possible to copy and paste or drag from vcp to host machine?
How can I make the vcp screen smaller.

Firstly, VPC = Virtual PC i.e. the name of the application software which
manages VMs i.e. virtual maghines...

Presumably you mean a 284GB hard disk? RAM and memory are the same thing -
in fact, that's what the 'M' stands for in 'RAM'...

Yes, after installing the Additions.

Same way as you would resize any other window...

Re: very slow vcp and other questions

So I had a senior moment or maybe a day!
Yes I know I should have said VPC, and should have known enough to say 285
GB hard drive.
The vpc is still running very slow.
I go to the vpc console but when I click action I do not get "install
additions".
If I start vpc there is no way to install additions. So, how do I install
additions?

VPC is the app, your VM is running slow.

The VM needs to be running, not shutdown or in a saved state. From
the menu on the running VM, is where "Install or update additions" is
located.

The Additions are supplemental apps which are installed into the guest
machines, not part of VPC, so...

1) Launch VPC

2) Start the VM in question

3) From the console menu, click Action, Install or Update Virtual Machine
Additions

If the reason you can't get to the console is that XP is full-screen,
<RightAlt-Enter> will make it windowed.

No, you have installed Windows XP in your virtual machine - Virtual PC is
the name of the software application which runs your virtual machines...

Re: very slow vcp and other questions

Thank all of you for being so patient with an 78 year old grandmother of 7!!
I am a happy camper now with all your help. The only thing is that my
virtual machine still runs slower than me!
