The guest's system beep ( WIN32 Beep() ) is played on the host's external
speakers (is that a "feature" of Vista (my guest)?). Is there a way to stop
that ... maybe even to get it played on the PC built-in speaker (where it
belongs)?

a beep if you do not have a working sound card. Do other sounds work in the
vm?

My physical machine has a working sound card (disabled on the guest). I assure
you that whenever a program running on the physical machine calls the Win32
function Beep(freq, duration) the sound comes from the PC speaker (done it
thousands of times) and **never** comes from the sound card. So why, with sound
disabled on the guest does Beep() use the sound card?
And no other sounds come from the virtual machine.

Is the host computer running a 64 bit Windows? If so and you have an HD
Audio device, then the System speaker "Beep" will not function, as it is not
supported.
