Printing from Virtual PC

Installed vpc 2007 on vista home premium.
Currently running 98se on that.
Running AutoCad2000 on that.
Everything went seamless and operates perfect.
I am sharing a folder with a USB storengo.
Works perfectly.
....I would like to print to my hppsc1350 (which is usb connected) from AutoCad, but vpc doesn't support usb....
My machine has no parallel port installed (of which I read can be shared by the host and guest)
Any takers?

Share the printer via standard Windows networked printer sharing, then
connect up your Win98 VM to printer share.

I hope I'm doing this quote thing right.
Thanks. I guess I will look into that (home user and computer "keeg"). I don't know if I need any hardware for that setup, but I suppose a place like Staples can set me up?

I think you've misunderstood what Steve said...

To share a printer, you just use standard networking protocols, just like
you would share any printer on any network - nothing to do with Virtual PC
per se...

The important thing to realise about virtualisation is that, apart from some
very exceptional cases, the software (both OS and apps) installed and
running on a virtual machine has not the slightest idea that it's running on
a virtual machine - it has no need whatsoever to know that...

Therefore, as Steve advised, simply share the printer on your host and
connect to it with your guest just as if it were a physical machine - no
additional hardware required...

You don't need any hardware for it. How does your VM access the
internet?

nnnngghhhh. I guess I'll get into the help section and do some reading up. I really appreciate the help. I know you guys could walk me through it, but I like to learn to fish, rather than have a fish given to me. If I have trouble I'll be back, though. At least I know where they're biting!
Thanks again,eh.
Oh, the vpc doesn't do anything but run my AutoCad for now. Internet is on the host.

Excellent attitude, which does you great credit!

To aid your endeavours, just remember that this is not a Virtual PC question
per se, so do a Google search for

Windows printer share

Blecccchhh!! I have the printer icon showing it as shared on the host.
I added a connection in the vpc, and had to install the driver for a Intel 21140 based 10/100mpbs (why it's mpbs I don't know. Shouldn't it be mbps?) Ethernet controller from the Win 98 cd.
I can't find how to hook to the printer.
But I sure get alot of options to connect to the internet.

A few things, if you type winipcfg in win98, what do you get? A
169.xx.xx.xx type number or something else?
In the VM settings, what do you have selected in the Networking part?

Hm. I just noticed I have an icon for my VPC in my network neighbourhood.
type winipcfg where?
I think I'm starting to realize why I'm stuck.
Sorry. I'm totally lost.
