Only for USB devices which can be shared via standard networking protocols
e.g. external hard drives, flash drives, memory sticks, printers etc.

VPC 2007 doesn't support pass-through USB - for that you'll need another
virtualisation product e.g. VMWare...

I have successfully used a usb device server from Silex:
http://tinyurl.com/dxwcdl

This product is installed on the network and the USB devices attached
can then be used by any PC on the network that has the Silex driver
installed.
Very useful and works both for normal physical and virtal PC:s.

Re: To use the USB port

What about Windows 7 Virtual PC?
I know its not out yet, but I have been using the Windows 7 RC and USB works
for several of my devices like my scanner and my Pocket PC, and even my
Hauppauge USB TV Tuner WinTV-HVR 950.
Thats how I use my old scanner that doesn't have 64 bit drivers while I run
Windows 7 x64 RC, through the Virtual XP which is 32 bit and sees my scanner
through the USB connection.

Re: To use the USB port

I was really replying to the suggestion of using a 3rd party program
("you'll need another virtualisation product e.g. VMWare.."), and suggesting
a Microsoft solution instead.

Re: To use the USB port

Windows 7 Virtual PC is the Virtual PC that runs on Windows 7 and it is
called "Windows Virtual PC".
Note that it requires that your CPU and BIOS support VT.

Re: To use the USB port

Virtual PC 7 is a new product that's just in beta right now and it
only runs on Windows 7 and you have to have the proper hardware to run
it.
