Hi,
Windows 7 - "No audio device is installed"

Depending on the type of sound being onboard or a separate expansion card the first place to look would be in the device manager for anything under "other devices". The initial problem where Windows fails to detect one or the other is rather commonly seen.

Once you have the latest Vista if not 7 beta update installed you may suddenly see the new hardware found, Windows is now installing drivers..". Sometimes it takes more then one try to get drivers to go or to see Windows copy and install them for you making them active.

Re: Windows 7 no audio

I have VM Additions installed.
I have restarted guest several times.
"No audio is installed"
I have several VM on this machine and that includes Vista. All of them have
audio but Windows 7.
Can I force somehow VM to recognize the audio?
Fred

Re: Windows 7 no audio

Uninstalled it, scanned for hardware changes, Windows start installing it
and the installation failed with the "no driver" found message.
Where VPC keeps audio driver? Is it possible the installation to point to
it?

Re: Windows 7 no audio

I've had the same problems running Windows 7 on VirtualBox. My machine runs
Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I believe I also had the same problems with the
32-bit version of Windows 7 on Microsoft Virtual PC. I have been unable to
fix the problem although I know Vista fairly well.

Regards
Chris Saunders

Re: Windows 7 no audio

You need to setup the Virtual Machine as if it were a Vista installation,
that way it get the Vista sound card emualtion instead of the Sound Blaster
16 ISA card emulation.

That as well as remembering that the default sound for the system itself is where you hear sound from not installing device drivers on Vista or any other version run on VM. With addon devices here I haven't been able to see anything more then yellow marked items in Vista's or the XP mode's own device manager while anything played on a media player or any sound assigned to a function is still heard.
