I read the stuff in the link there and so much of it I had already done, including the IP address change so the "x" is the same as vpc. So, I went back and set it to automatically configure an address. Of course in my impatience...... Don't trouble yourself too much- I do appreciate the help, but I'm at my wits end now and I'm thinking a sledge hammer is my next option. I'm going to start with a fresh mind in the wee hours tonite and if dawn breaks before I get it .... |

I'm going to start with a fresh mind in the wee hours tonite and if dawn breaks before I get it .... must have been the sledge hammer threat. I got the host icon back on the VPC. While clicking through the vpc network nieghbourhood, I right click "Entire neighbourhood"--double click WORKGROUP--right click the host's name and go to "properties".Click "tool" tab Click "administer" button.......get a message-"! Remote administration of this server requires file and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks. Double-click Network icon in control panel to enable this service." So.....I turn on both boxes and get a message to restart. Guess what. I now have both the host and the vpc showing in the network on both machines. I must be close, but I still get the denied access block when trying to access my host from vpc. It wants a network password and everything I try doesn't work. |

Network protection access......and read..... Local service account and Network sevice Acccount are configured with a null password. Is this of any significance. |
