He means virtual in the sense that his host does not yet exist....
He is collecting info in order to base his buy decision on when he
builds a *physical* host with all the needed options in the hardware
(like VT for example).

Then he is off to the virtualization experience.

however, I think you may be run a vm image restored from a real PC with vpc
2004.
don`t know about the performance nor practicality of running vm within vm

Can't with VPC. In some cases you can run VPC instead of VMWare, but
you can't run VPC7 inside of VMWare since it requires HW
virtualization.
