With VPC2007, it doesn't support USB devices. If you're talking about
the new VPC7, you need the integration components installed to have
the USB option.

A common problem, this explains how to fix it:

You don't - VPC 2007 doesn't support USB devices because it doesn't emulate
the USB subsystem. The only exceptions to this are USB devices which can be
accessed via standard network protocols e.g. external hard drives, printers,
memory sticks etc... In addition to this, there are products available which
wrap USB devices and make them appear as network devices with an IP
address - I've never tried these, though people have reported here that they
work quite well...

I have VPC version 6.0.192 on a Vista, is there a better version that i missed that i can upgrade
or is VPC7 a version will only works on Windows 7?

On a different note Q:
Can a visrus that was discovered on the VPC machine leak to the hosting operating system as well?

Thanks for your help

VPC7 only runs on Windows 7, so you're kind of out of luck unless you
switch to something other than VPC.

Not normally, but if you have shared folders or drives, it's possible
that an infected file got transferred and would activate if you used
that file on the host. There are a few of other network based
exploits that could "leak" as well, that's why it's a good thing to
run A/V on both the host and the guests.

Yes, I have tested it and it works quite well (SILEX Device Server).
But it is not "free", you have to buy the unit and it comes with only
one connection so if you have more than one USB device to connect you
have to use a USB hub in the single connector first.

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2

Re: VPC on Windows Vista (32 or 64)

Hi.

So when I try to install VPC on my Vista SP2 64-bit home premium, I get an message telling me that VPC can't run on my system. I tried VPC 2007 and the older version of VPC. They both told me that VPC and VPC 2007 can't run on my system but they still seem to work and fully install anyways? So, what should I do and where can I find VPC or VPC 2007 for Vista 64-bit home premium SP2?

(I'm trying to run windows 7 RC on VPC/VPC 2007)

so please help me (A.S.A.P.)

Thanks,

~David~

Re: VPC on Windows Vista (32 or 64)

VPC runs just fine on home premium. The message you're getting is
just that it's not supported. There's no version of VPC that is
supported on the home versions...

The February 2009 hotfix for VPC2007-SP1 adds some Home versions to the
supported list (in addition to fixing some problems, increasing the max
display resolution, etc). Note: the VPC2007-SP1 installer will still
complain; I don't know of a VPC full installer with the hotfix included.
