| | Activating XP Pro in Virtual PC VM I want to create multiple VM's with different setups. I own the XP Pro/Vista OS combo that came with my Dell PC. My base OS is XP Pro. I created a VM an installed Vista and was able to activate it with no problems. I wanted to create a second VM but use XP Pro. I've been unable to activate XP Pro. Does the WGA activation prevent this, or am I doing something wrong? Regards, David |

You would need to purchase another copy of XP to use in your Virtual Machine. A VM should be thought of in exactly the same way as another physical computer. Each computer needs a separate licence. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included. Braincell on vacation ;-) MVP - Windows Desktop Experience 2007-2009 |

| | Re: Activating XP Pro in Virtual PC VM You don't own the OS, you own a license to use EITHER Windows XP OR Vista on the Dell only, the OEM license prohibits installing on any other hardware (a VM is considered hardware). Your in violation of the EULA by using the Dell OEM Vista license on your VM, same with the XP install you can't activate. -- Crosspost, do not multipost http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 <Dweeber@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:bagl25d00h8nar5jp0l302buo2ffhdqlq6@xxxxxx Quote: >I want to create multiple VM's with different setups.
