Virtual NIC not configured

How do I get Virtual NIC configured. Open VPC and go to network
connections--there is nothing there. Go to system devices, the ethernet
controller has a yellow error saying it is not configured. Virtual NIC uses
Windows XP.

HOST: Windows XP Professional with Virtual Machine Network Services checked
and host connectable to internet. (VMNS was uninstalled and reinstalled,
including systems restarts, no work.). Checked for driver updates, my Intel
PRO/1000 PL is to-date @ version 9.8.20.0 on 4/13/2007.

VIRTUAL: Windows XP Professional, a ethernet controller is detected ("Found
new hardware" in the taskbar), but no drivers available. The drivers for the
DEC21140 was downloaded and not able to be installed in the VPC.

Re: Virtual NIC not configured

What is the exact error in the device manager in XP? Also - what
happens if you try and use shared networking?

Cheers,
