Dell E6400 and VPC2007-SP1 latency problem update?

re: Poor performance, sticky keys, delayed response from typing to appearance
onscreen, etc.

I've read another post that recommended
http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy...n-laptops.aspx

But the last update there was in 2007. Is there ANYTHING new in this?

The workaround appears to resolve the reported symptoms, but it does so by
apparently running VirtualPC at 50% CPU (minimum) at all times. It kind of
makes us nervous having one application do that.

What is the host OS are you running? I don't recall those issues on
my e6500. It could be how you've set up your power management.
What are the host specs?

Re: Dell E6400 and VPC2007-SP1 latency problem update?

I'm acting on behalf of 1st and 2nd level support, so bear with me. I've not
been able to reproduce it as easily as the original caller was. It sounds
like it may take up to an hour of "idle" time before the problem presents.

For a reference to someone else's report - search this newsgroup with
"Virtualization LPT1" - look for "choppy" in the subject. with this same
computer model. That person tried more things than I have - so I
did not repeat their work.

Dell E6400
Intel P8400 Dual Core2 2.26Ghz
Memory: 2GB
HD: 160GB.
Wifi ABGN Card
Extended Life Battery (9-Cell/85 WHr)
Internal Modem
8X DVD+/-RW

Power Management - using "PowerCFG" to set as follows:
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /processor-throttle-ac adaptive
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /processor-throttle-dc adaptive
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /monitor-timeout-ac 0
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /monitor-timeout-dc 0
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /disk-timeout-ac 0
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /disk-timeout-dc 0
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /standby-timeout-ac 0
powercfg /x "home/office desk" /standby-timeout-dc 0
powercfg /setactive "home/office desk"

There have been no updated for VPC2007. This is something that we are
trying to handle better with Windows Virtual PC on Windows 7.
