| | can't read Windows or Office 2003 DVD I am unable to read my Windows 2003 or Office 2003 DVD from my guest PC. The DVD is loaded in the drive, but if I try to select the drive from the guest system it behaves as if there is no DVD loaded. I have tried some simple troubleshooting, and have observed: - The DVD is not corrupt. I can read it from the host operating system. I can also map a drive to it, and read it that way from the guest. - I can read other CDs and DVDs from the guest operating system. It has been a couple of years since I have built a new virtual PC, but if I recall, I'll need the DVD to look like a DVD to install Windows. The host is Windows XP. The guest is Windows 2003. If I go to Help - About for Virtual PC, the version says 6.0.192.0. Any ideas? |

| | Re: can't read Windows or Office 2003 DVD The easiest thing to do if the VM cannot see the CD is to use a tool like WinImage (www.winimage.com) to make an ISO of the CD and then attach the ISO to the virtual machine.
