Guest Machine not booting

I transferred two vhd's over to my new computer, currently running Vista Home Premium x64. Both guest machines are running XP Professional.

One boots without any issues. The other machine stays at the Windows XP screen without ever going into Windows or encountering any errors. I can boot into safe mode successfully on that machine.

Any idea how to remedy this situation? I know that Vista Home Premium is unsupported with Virtual PC 2007, but hoping there is a way to recover this machine successfully.

Thoughts?

There's a hotfix for VPC2007sp1 that includes Vista Home as a
supported host. I just posted the KB related to it on another thread.

When you boot into safe mode, try removing the VM Additions and
restarting.

Re: Guest Machine not booting

When I try and install the hotfix rollup KB958162, I get this msg:

'The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.'

The file version Virtual PC.exe is 6.0.156.0 dated 2/18/2007.

Any thoughts?

You need to apply SP1 first, then the hotfix.

I think VPC 2007 SP1 is version 6.0.192.0. You need to have that first.
