Vista - Host Hard Drives Visible from Guest VM — Not

I've just upgraded to Win 7 RTM & WVPC RC from Win 7 RC & WVPC beta. I'm
using a VM image created with VPC 2007 on Vista. Moving the VM from VPC to
WVPC went OK, once I jumped through the hoops (enabling integration, etc.)
and I automatically saw all the host drives on the guest. But, now that I've
gone to W7 and WPC RC I am not seeing any of the drives of the host. In all
of these configurations the host is the 64 bit version and the VM is XP SP3,
although I've gotten the same results with an XP SP2 VM as well.

The WVPC Help says, after shutting down the VM:
To share host drives

Open the Virtual Machines folder. From the Start menu, click Virtual
Machines. If the menu item is not visible, click All Programs, click Windows
Virtual PC, and then click Virtual Machines.

From the Virtual Machines folder, right-click the name of the virtual
machine and then click Settings. The Windows Virtual PC Settings page opens.

In the left pane, click Integration Features. In the right pane, click
Drives.

Review the list of drives, clear the check box of any drive that you do not
want to share, and click OK.



This might work, if there was a Settings menu option. I can choose from
Open, Pin, Cut, Copy, Paste, Restore to Previous Version, Send to or select
Properties, but there is no Settings in sight.

Any ideas or suggestion to access the host drives?

1. I mis read the instructions and was right clicking on the VPC label (MRU)
in the Start menu, not in the Virtual Machine folder in Windows Explorer that
you are taken to when clicking Virtual Machines in the Start Menu.

2. There is no need to do step 1 at all. By going to Tools -> Settings in
running WVPC and selecting Integration Features, which are misleadingly set
to Auto Enable, you can then check the Drives you want to enable (none are
selected by default, although audio, clipboard, printer and smart cards are
selected by default). Changes made to the running VM may not show until a
restart.

wanted them or not. Now you have the option to only share the ones you
want.

I am surprised that you did not get them all by default. I had trouble
finding the menu with the check boxes because it is only visible when the
option is set to manual.
