Unable to Ping from a Laptop to a VM inside it.

I need help to configure a network between two virtual machines and a laptop.
Following is the configuration

Laptop OS: Win Vista installed in C Drive.
VM 1: Win XP Pro
VM 2: Win XP Pro
both the VMs are kept in d drive.
i created the following network to connect the two VMs and the physical machine.
VM1 IP : 192.168.1.3
VM2 IP : 192.168.1.4
Laptop : 192.168.1.5
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.127.255

Now i am able to ping VM1 from VM2 and VM2 from VM1.
But the laptop or the physical machine do not send reply when ping request is sent from VM's.

Kindly help in creating this connection between these VM and the physical machine.

NOTE: The machine is not connected to internet. Its stand alone.

The two vms will be able to ping each other because they are in the
same network. How have you configured networking for the vms? Are they set
to use the physical NIC in the host machine? Can the host machine see the
laptop and vice versa? What are their IP addresses?

Re: Unable to Ping from a Laptop to a VM inside it.

In Virtual PC go to Edit, Settings, Network.

Are both VPC's set to use your machine's network card?

If they are try this : for both VPC's - In Edit, Settings, Network set "Not
connected" and then OK. Wait a few seconds, then set it back to your network
card. Wait until the VPC has sorted out its networking and see if your PC
can ping the VPC.

Try this a few times. It may be you're suffering from something I get
sometimes namely that for no apparent reason VPC stops seeing the outside
world. But doing what I've outlined shakes it up and it rights itself.

Worth a shot.

Regards,

Adam.
