| | Re: License about Host and Guest OS The same rules apply in all cases. Each OS installed in a vm needs it own license. When you have 3 Win 7 vms running on a Win 7 host you need 4 Win 7 licenses. The only exception I am aware of is the XP version available with XP Mode in Win 7. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ "c128" <c128@newsgroup> wrote in message news:#2oNvaZPKHA.504@newsgroup Quote: > Hi all, > > I'm new to Virutal PC. After you upgrade to Win7 on the host (Win7 Pro or above) you can take advantage of one Virtual XP vm for one license and then you would only need one Win7 and two XP Pro licenses for "> Win 7 (host) + XP prof (3 guests)." Why are you "migrating" the guests? If you have the Win7 licenses why not just install Win7 guests after you have "migrated" on the host? By "migration" do you mean upgrade? A migration suggests a clean install followed by installation of applications and migration of user profiles and data. What you are doing sounds more like upgrades. |
