| | Multiple user for VPC I have problem to tackle but don't know for sure how. My problem is that: I have two different user for each PC and each user has its own username and password. I copied virtual machines as well as virtual hard disk to two different folder. When I load virtual machines and virtual hard disk to Microsoft Virtual PC with admin account everything is there but once I accesss with standard user account I cannot see the virtual machines in Microsoft Virtual PC. If I try to load the virtual machines with standard user account it gives a message computer02.vmc could not found either is in use by another user or is set read only. Any idea how to tacke this issue? Any help is appreciated. |

Only copy the vhd, then create a *new* virtual machine using the virtual machine wizard. Use the same settings as you had for the original except for the name, but point it to the copied *.vhd file (incidentally, before you create the new machine rename the copied vhd file appropriately). This process will create new unique identifiers so that there will be no network clash if the guests should be running at the same time. Also, as soon as you start up the copy you must change the computer name and SID (assuming you use Windows guests) to idividualize the copy also on the Windows level. Finally you must also enter the new product activation key for the copy. You need a separate Windows license for each virtual machine! -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |
