Re-using trial software

Does anyone know whether it's possible to reuse trial software after it's
been installed using virtual pc? I've got several microsoft labs setup that
i'd like to be able to recreate once the software expires. I'm wondering
whether when the operating system is installed under virtual pc, if anything
is written to the actual o/s registry to prevent just blowing out the virtual
pc installation and reinstalling?

thanks

The answer to this question, like almost all other virtualisation questions,
is to forget *completely* that the machine is virtual and not physical.

There is *no difference whatsoever* between a physical machine and a virtual
machine as far as the software (OS and apps) running on it is concerned.
E.g. when you install something like Microsoft Office on a virtual machine,
it has not the slightest notion that it's being installed on a virtual
machine and not a physical machine. It has no need to know this.

So, supposing you installed the trial software on a physical machine and,
after it expired, you reformatted the physical machine's hard disk,
reinstalled an OS and reinstalled the trial software. What would happen?

Whatever would happen, the situation will be identical with a virtual
machine...

Re: Re-using trial software

Trial is a try before you buy. I doubt anyone will show you how to cheat by re-installing the trial. If you like the program, buy it. Having said that, contacting the software company may provide you with an extension on your trial. I have done that when I needed more time for evaluation.

There are many ways to cheat. Have separate HD's
for OS's C:\, and data D:\, D:\ is set as the default
location for storing emails, newsgroups (some clients
let you specify the location) etc.
Now use a good uninstaller that removes registry
entries, dll's, and files hidden in the OS.
Worst case restore in 5 mins or less the image
of the OS before the trial was installed.
I see no reason why the image should not
restore both the parent OS and the virtual
one.

I agree with lemur. We should not teach people how to cheat.
