    Mouse issues with Virtual PC

I recently put together a Windows 7 PC (64 bit) and have installed Virtual PC
so that I can run a couple of vital applications that previously did not run
correctly even in XP compatibility mode. Both work correctly if I start
Windows XP Mode and then start the application within that window. However,
if I start the application by selecting it from the Windows XP Mode
Applications entry in the Windows 7 start menu, then the mouse no longer
operates correctly. When I select a pulldown menu with the left mouse button,
the menu is displayed only as long as I do not move the mouse cursor into the
menu - once I do, the menu disappears. I have found that I can keep the menu
displayed as long as I keep the left mouse button pressed while moving the
mouse cursor. Similar operation for the right mouse button and context
menus. However, for the right mouse button, the menu seems to appear on the
button release rather than the button press so the trick of holding the
button down does not work. Since both of these applications make extensive
use of context menus in their operation, the only way I can run them right
now is to run the Virtual XP Mode window and run them from within that.

I've experimented with different mice and different drivers but the results
are always the same. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this
    bizarre behavior?

    Thanks,
    Dave

RE: Mouse issues with Virtual PC

Just an update - I had been using Logitech mice. Thinking that maybe the
problem might have to do with outdated drivers that didn't play nice with
virtual applications running under Windows 7, I deleted the Logitech drivers
and application and installed a Microsoft mouse (D1T-00002). This is a four
button mouse that is Windows 7 compatible. I downloaded and installed the
latest 64-bit drivers but unfortunately, the mouse operates exactly the same
as the old Logitech mice did.

Still hoping that someone has some ideas on this.

    thanks,
    Dave

I am having the exact same problem but I have found I can use the up/down
arrows to select from pull-down menus but really need the mouse to work.
It must be a bug in XP Mode but if anyone has a workaround it really help.
