install loopback adapter on vista ultimate

i installed loopback adapter on my vista ultimate machine. I configure the ip
to 192.168.50.1/255.255.255.0
however, i am getting a Limited Connectivity from the adapter. does anyone
know how to fix it?
i had set up a virtual pc on another xp environemnt and had no problem on
the connection. Don't know if there is any vista thing i am missing.

thanks in advance.

Re: install loopback adapter on vista ultimate

Do you have a virtual machine with its NIC connected to the loopback
network? What IP address and netmask does it have?

Re: install loopback adapter on vista ultimate

i have not created any virtual machine yet. The thing is the loopback adapter
has a limited connection in vista, but i had the adpater setup on another Xp
machine, it has 10mbps.

also, when i try to fix the problem through vista, it tells me that the
adapter has incorrect ip configuartion.

I assign an ip address and masking it as 192.168.50.1/255.255.255.0. and the
rest are the same as i set up on xp.

Re: install loopback adapter on vista ultimate

Well yes, it will show limited access because it cannot see any devices
on the network (because there are no other devices on that network yet).
