Copying a physical boot disk to a virtual disk

I am unable to determine from the Operations Manual section entitled "Copying
a physical disk to a virtual hard disk" if I can do this to a boot disk.
Typically I use the ghost method but if I can avoid using ghost and use this
copy method that would be great.
