Add Hyper-V Manager to Server 2008?

Here's what I'd like to be able to do.

Virtual Server you could connect to the VMs via the web interface.
Hyper-V does not have a web interface.

I would like to be able to manage my Hyper-V server, from another Server
2008 machine, but I do not want to add the Hyper-V role to the second
server.

Possible?

Or do I have to use Vista to be able to manage a Hyper-V system
remotely, other than using Remote Desktop to the Hyper-V server (and
possibly the guest OSes?)

Thanks,
Jason A.

You can add the Hyper-V management console as a feature on the machine you
need to manage it from.

Re: Add Hyper-V Manager to Server 2008?

Correct - it's a Feature, part of the Remote Server Administration Tools
Feature. If you don't want to install all of them, just drill down and
install the Hyper-V Tools one.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't even think to check in the RSAT section...

Re: Add Hyper-V Manager to Server 2008?

Thank you very much for this much needed information. This is precisely what
I've been searching for. Can't install the Hyper-V role inside a virtualized
machine and I only needed the management console.

Perhaps a 'Management" FAQ section could be added to the Hyper-V page so it
isn't so difficult to discover this fundamental knowledge.

Again thanks to Jason, Daniel, & Charlie.
