keep virtual machine in sync with physical

Recently, I was able to convert to virtual a physical server that runs
Exchange 2003 and is a DC (SBS2003). Does anyone know how can I keep
both machine in sync with all the changes? I could do another
conversion from a backup but that will requiere to re-activate my
machine every time - not a great solution.
Thank you.
