| | Manament of Hyper-V Role? We have a need for some Engineers to run and manage a few Virtual Servers and I'd like them to be able to manage the server without having Admin permissions on the local server that is running Hyper-V. I do not want them to be able to install Software on the local host, though I want them to be able to copy/add new VMs into Hyper-V. What is the Best Practice to allow people to manage Hyper-V Images, but not have access to manage anything else on the local host? Thanks, Scott<- |

| | Re: Manament of Hyper-V Role? Hello Scott, May you can take a look at System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008. Currently is the Beta version to the public available. The final is expected in the next 30 days. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards - Alexander Ortha (Microsoft) German Virtualization Blog http://blogs.technet.com/germanvirtu...g/default.aspx This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | | Re: Manament of Hyper-V Role? I would think that the Permissions to Manage the Servers on the Hyper-V machine would be the same. The only way I could get the Engineers to see the Servers under the Hyper-V Manager Role was to give them Administrator Rights to the Local Server. Not what I really wanted to do. Without it, they could log in and launch the Hyper-V Manager, though when they clicked the server to show the Machines running on it, the manager said they didn't have sufficient rights to view the machines. How would System Center be Different? Seems like you would still need the same permissions to manipulate the Virtual Servers.
