scvmm p2v x64 Windows XP

I am attempting to create a p2v of an existing Windows XP Pro x64 machine. I
have upgraded it to sp2. My server is Windows server 2k3 x64 and i'm running
Virtual Server 2k5 R2 SP1 and SCVMM ver 1.0.2626.

I receive the following error:
VMM is unable to create a snapshot set on JAX64.TSSLAB.LOCAL. An unexpected
error occurred during the Volume Shadow Copy service operation.

Try the operation again.

ID: 3110
Details: Unknown error (0x80042308)

Any help would be apreciated ..

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

I'm not too sure what is causing the snapshot failure, but - stop right
there. Virtual Server does not support any x64 guests, so it won't do you
any good.

VMWare has support for x64 guests. As does Windows Server 2008 with
Hyper-V.

Thanks, It said that it could in one document I found or at least that it
could convert it. But I guess I'll just install vmware and do that.

Re: scvmm p2v x64 Windows XP

Not sure where you saw it, but that would be wrong. Since the physical
machine is running 64-bit windows, your only option is Hyper-V or a third
party for the virtualization side. The version of SCVMM that supports x64
guests should be out shortly, but isn't available yet.
