| | Backup SBS HyperV I would like to know if it is allowed to do the following according to the MS License. I have a SBS 2008 Premium, I install the 2nd server as a Windows 2008 Core and enable HyperV on it as a parent partition. Then I install a SBS child partition and the 2nd server as a child partition on it also. This should all be allowed by MS as far as I have read, as long as the parent partition is only used for virtualisation. Now to my question, if you install Backup Exec on the parent partition to allow backup of both child partitions will that be against the licens or is it allowed to do that since its only a backup service that runs in the background and not an application that the users will access? If it is not allowed or possible, any ideas as to how you can use HyperV on a single physical server and do backup would be welcome? Hope you can understand my question. |

| | Re: Backup SBS HyperV So far as I'm aware, that is within the scope of the license. The parent partition is allowed to run the Hyper-V Role, and supporting features/applications for managing the parent partition, the VMs and virtualization, and essential security for the same. I take this to include backup. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "ALausen" <ALausen@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C4C613DD-BDA7-47B3-832D-2356DA378449@xxxxxx Quote: >I would like to know if it is allowed to do the following according to the >MS > License. > > I have a SBS 2008 Premium, I install the 2nd server as a Windows 2008 Core > and enable HyperV on it as a parent partition.
