Windows Update

I'm curious about how you guys deal with Windows Update on your host
servers. Some of the updates that come down the pipe require a reboot in
order for the update to be completely installed. This means that all VMs
must be shut down, the host rebooted, and the VMs restarted. In a production
environment, this can be deadly.

Do you not allow updates to the host?

Do you have defined maintenance periods/cycles during which you apply
updates?

Or what?

Tom

Re: Windows Update

Defined maintenance windows definitely, but I'd highly recommend using
Failover Clustering and making your VMs highly available. Makes patching
the physical servers a breeze...
