| | Virtual Disk not available I am running MSVS 2005 on a Windows Vista 64bit OS. I installed the server just fine and created a MS Server 2003 virtual server fine. But when I go to create a linked virtual disk to one of my physical drives, the available disk drives are not available. How do I get my physical drives to be available in the drop down to link? Thanks |

It cannot have a drive letter associated with it, so you need to go into the disk manager and remove the drive letter from it in order to do the link. But why do you want to do this? Generally linking is only done in order to copy data from the linked disk to an ordinary virtual disk inside a guest. -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |

| | Re: Virtual Disk not available Well, maybe I am doing the wrong thing. I want to be able to view my external hard drive to have access to all the files on the drive. How am I to do this? | | Re: Virtual Disk not available Virtual Server doesn't have that capability. You'll have to do it with a "Network drive" (normal shared networking) -- Bob Comer On Wed, 29 Oct 2008 18:53:00 -0700, MacMan0295 <MacMan0295@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Well, maybe I am doing the wrong thing. | | Re: Virtual Disk not available Unfortunately the linked disk type in Virtual Server is only to copy partitions to VHD's and it only works directly on the VHD, not from a VM. Network shares should work though... -- Bob Comer On Thu, 30 Oct 2008 09:12:01 -0700, MacMan0295 <MacMan0295@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: >Thank you.
