How to Install VM Additions with No CD-ROM

After recently p2v-ing an old blade server (which did not have CD rom), the
virtualized machine is running VERY slow.

It appears that VM Additions are not installed. When I try to install it,
the option is not available ("grayed out").

Is this because there is no CD rom available to that virtual machine? Is
there a way to install VM additions without a CD drive? And if not, how do
I make the new VM detect the server's CD drive?

Thanks

You do not use the host's CD drive!
The virtual machine additions are stored on an ISO file and you only
need to attach this to the emulated optical drive of your guest to
have it available inside the guest.
If your guest does not show an optical drive, then shut down the
guest, then go into the properties of it and add an optical drive,
then start it and capture the VMA ISO file in the now existing CD
drive on the guest.
Then run the installer.

PS: THe ISO file is in a subdirectory to the Virtual server install
dir on your host.
