HyperV - unable to connect to running virtual machines

Hi all,
I am totally unable to connect to the running machines on my Hyper-V enabled
Windows 2008 Standard machine. I can see that they are running via the little
thumbnail but Connect fails after some time of trying to connect.
Here are the steps I did:
*Set up a Windows 2008 Server Standard edition
*Added the Hyper-V role to it.
* Created 3 new machines. 2 with existing .vhd files and a one with no hard
drive at all
All virtual machines seem to run as they should (with visible thumbnail,
using processor etc) but clicking on Connect brings up the Virtual Machine
Connection application. It fails after about 30s with the message "Cannot
connect to the virtal machine. Try to connect again. If the problem persists,
contact your system administrator" and "Would you like to try again" followed
by the options Connect or Exit.

I have Googled and applied all possible updates without any change or
positive results.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards

Re: HyperV - unable to connect to running virtual machines

Hi Robert,
Thank you for a prompt reply!
I have turned off the firewall, even that doesn't help!
FYI I am running it all on the same machine, a dedicated hosted server.

Best regards
Peter

Re: HyperV - unable to connect to running virtual machines

I'm not sure what the problem might be then. Is there any event log
entries?

Hi Bob,
No, I can't find anything at all in the event log.
