| | Virtual Domain controller guests on Hyper-V Any caveats to running Domain controller guests on Hyper-V (Windows 2003 AD)? I have run domain controllers on ESX before without issue but I am new to Hyper-V and just checking to see if any of you have experienced any gotchas? thanks, Clay |

| | Re: Virtual Domain controller guests on Hyper-V If this is a real domain, do NOT snapshot and roll back. And don't shut down for an extended period. It's generally easier to not have your parent partition be a member of the domain, unless there's a domain controller on a different physical machine. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "Clay" <clay@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:Ot5ek$gYJHA.6036@xxxxxx Quote: > Any caveats to running Domain controller guests on Hyper-V (Windows 2003 > AD)? | | Re: Virtual Domain controller guests on Hyper-V Thanks Josh and Charlie. Very useful information. I will be standing up my hyper-v next week. Plan to run a DC, and WSUS and AV server, and a couple of web servers initially. I have a good bit of ESX experience from my previous job but am going with Hyper-V this time for cost and support issues. thanks much and have a good weekend, Clay "Josh Gingras" <gingras@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:08475984-683C-41CB-9234-5E6E6E1B997E@xxxxxx Quote: > Ben Armstrong provided an interesting analysis of the different options: > > http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy...r-dilemma.aspx > > Josh > > -- > Josh Gingras > CDW Advanced Technology Services > > > "Charlie Russel - MVP" <charlie@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:%23dd1dViYJHA.2068@xxxxxx Quote: >> If this is a real domain, do NOT snapshot and roll back. | | Re: Virtual Domain controller guests on Hyper-V We have one of our three DCs as a VM on Hyper-V. After a month of continual use, we haven't seen a single problem. The VM DC has AD, DNS and DHCP roles.
