| | Idea: BKF to VHD converter You know what would be good, some application that will turn an Windows NTBackup .BKF file into a VHD file. That way, one can use take a backup and a P2V conversion easily. Great for disaster recovery. |

That would use existing functionality to do the restore... P2V is not really only about converting a drive to a VHD virtual drive. A lot of other issues come up such as the hardware differences between the physical machine and the virtual one. That is more important than the data conversion between drive types. -- Bo Berglund (Sweden) |

| | Re: Idea: BKF to VHD converter Did you know that with Vista Ultimate a full backup creates a .vhd file. I have mounted such a backup using the vhdmount tool from virtual server, and it is a true vhd file, though I don't know if one can boot up the vhd in virtual server, as I did not try it. <virtual2888@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:d6ba3bb1-c023-4dcb-9d9b-40bc27981215@xxxxxx Quote: > You know what would be good, some application that will turn an > Windows NTBackup .BKF file into a VHD file. > > That way, one can use take a backup and a P2V conversion easily. > Great for disaster recovery. |
