Cannot register a dll

I keep getting an error when I try to manually register a dll in my virtual
server. I am running XP SP3 as a virtual machine under Windows Virtual
Server 2005 R2. The dll is simply an application that I need to install on
this Virtual machine. It doesn't need to access any special hardware.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't see what that has to do with Virtual Server. I would post in a XP
newsgroup (with a lot more detail about what the dll is and what happens
when you try to register it).

Re: Cannot register a dll

"Register" is a word that covers a large area. Do you mean regsvr32, regasm,
installing an assembly in the GAC, or something else? Whatever it is, it's
very unlikely to be a virtual server issue, more likely a missing
dependency. I'd ask in a group that's specific to the details of what you're
doing, COM or .NET.

Re: Cannot register a dll

I'm trying to use regsvr32 as well as other products to register sdiff.dll.
I only have this problem on XP running as a virtual machine. I can install
the app that uses the sdiff.dll on any other XP computer. As soon as I try
to install the app on XP running as a virtual machine it can't register the
dll in the install process. If I try to register it manually using regsvr32,
it gives me an error of "HRESULT == 0x800736b1....This application as failed
to start because the application configuration is incorrect." I'm not sure
if I'm fighting an XP issue or a virtual server problem. As Bill indicated
earlier, I wouldn't think that this is a virtual server issue but seeing how
this is the only variable difference, I can't help but think the virtual
services are playing a factor somehow.
