Standalone Hyper-V Server

I've not tried the above, but a few questions

a) does installation means placing the iso image onto a fresh 64 bit machine
without any windows 2008 server (gui and core) ?

b) For management of standalone hyper-v server, does it mean i've to use a
remote workstation (eg vista sp1) to RDP in ?

It is just like any other Windows Server 2008 installation. You install it
using the installation media on to a system that doesn't currently have an
OS on it (assuming you're not planning on dual-booting).

No, it means you need to use a remote system to run the Hyper-V Management
console targetted at the Hyper-V server. It is essentially a core
installation so there isn't any real GUI for you to RDP into.
