| | How do i know hyper-v works ? I installed the standalone hyper-v on a 64bit intel hardware At the bios : enable : VT But the "Execute Disable bit." was not found. Can i assume this is DEFAULT with VT ? |

| | Re: How do i know hyper-v works ? It depends on CMOS / BIOS vendor, etc. - I wouldn't assume anything. The easiest (and most definite) way to confirm this is simply to install the Hyper-V Role, create a basic VM and start it up. If all goes well, you definitely know that your settings are correct and that Hyper-V VMs will run successfully. | | Re: How do i know hyper-v works ? I totolly agree with Ryan. In addition there is a tool (1 file executable) that can be very helpfull which is called "securable.exe". Google it, run it, it tells you about the virtulization-cababilities of your sytem. | | Re: How do i know hyper-v works ? I've managed to install hyper-v and start images. However when i run the "securable.exe" tool, it shows following results 1. 64 bit - max length 2. hardware dep : yes 3. Hardware virtualisation : NO or LOCKED ON (depending on the hardware i run) What does item 3 means for NO or LOCKED ON ? |

Inside a VM there is no virtualization , so this tool reports no virtualization. -- Cheers, Steve Jain, Virtual Machine MVP http://vpc.essjae.com/ |

| | Re: How do i know hyper-v works ? It should be useful to use securable.exe for the 1st time BEFORE you install the hyper-v-role.
