hyper-v remote admin

Hi

I want to setup hyper-v on server core of W2K8.
Can anybody give me a link to a detailed step-by-step guide, where ALL
needed issues are explained for configuring remote-admin (mmc, etc.)?
The only VLan will be a domain and the hyper-v core will remain in a
workgroup as I was told.

Re: hyper-v remote admin

That is a pretty tall order! Sounds like the title of a book which hasn't
yet been written. (Perhaps Charlie is working on it).

Unless you are experienced at running a system from the command line I
would not even think about running this in server core. Server core presents
a low attack surface (as they say in the ads) but it does that by excluding
most of the stuff that the average sysadmin uses.

Are you happy running AD, network, DNS and DHCP admin without a GUI?

No, not explicitly. Though I do cover (and include scripts for) setting up
Core and enabling key infrastructure services in my Server 2008
Administrator's Companion book. And I cover Hyper-V. There are also a series
of posts about configuring Hyper-V for management from a Vista box that John
Howard did. There are five in the series, covering slightly different
scenarios. Here's the link to the first:

Re: hyper-v remote admin

Good addition, I keep forgetting that new tool is out there and really good.
I'm going to have rebuild my hyper-v server for R2 Core anyway, so that will
be a good time play with the new tools.
