| | SysPrep and Windows Server 2008 (Server Core) Hello all. I have a machine running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition (not the R2 variant), SP 1. I have the Hyper-V role installed. I have created template VMs for Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Vista, Enterprise with no problems. I was able to sysprep them so that I can quickly create multiple servers/clients with ease. My question is this: how can I create a SysPrepped image of a Windows Server 2008 Server Core installation? I get a message stating that "An error occurred while trying to update the registry. Unable to continue." This is the System Preparation Tool 2.0. Is there a later variant that will wrk with 2008 (Server Core)? Thanks. Paul Yhonquea |

| | Re: SysPrep and Windows Server 2008 (Server Core) Hi Paul, Yes, sysprep is inluded in the C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep directory on Vista and Server 08 including Core. Just type "C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep.exe" and select "Out of the Box Experience" Highly recommend using the "generalize" option which will delete the existing virtual network card so the new server will not keep a phantom copy of it in the registry.
