| | Create new volume on Hyper-V Server hi friends, we have a hyper-v server with 2 arrays, 1 in use and other not used yet, our server is running well but now I need to activate the second array but Hyper-V does not count with a GUI Disk Manager.... so, my doubt is.... Do I must create new partitions, volume, format, etc directly from command line (DISKPART) on Hyper-V Server? or can I connect a GUI Tool remotely to configure my server's disks? HB |

| | RE: Create new volume on Hyper-V Server Herba98, You can do this either locally or remotely. You can do this locally as you expected using diskpart or you can do this remotely using the diskmgmt.msc snap-in. However, if you are planning on using MMC snap-in's remotely to manage your Micosoft Hyper-V server, then you will need to configure your firewall to allow MMC's to connect. To do so run the follow command from a command prompt on your Hyper-V server. Netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="remote administration" new enable=yes or you can disable the firewall completely if you choose with this command Netsh firewall set opmode mode = Disable But, keep in mind disabling the firewall is not a recommended configuration.
