Windows 2008 Failover Clustering guest OS nodes

Does anyone know if it si possible to install the Windows 2008 Failover
cluster in Virtual Server 2005 SP1. I can not get to work the storage
component, I can not add the storage(disks) eventhough I have fixed size
disks attached to virtual SCSI ID 6 and 7). This worked well in Windows 2003.

There was an excellent article for Windows 2003 Cluster but I seem not to be
able to find the Windows 2008 one. Maybe it is not even available.

Using Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 to Create and Configure a Two-Node
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Cluster:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...y/cvs2005.mspx

Is it possible to do it somehow with iSCSI?

Thanks,

Pluto

Re: Windows 2008 Failover Clustering guest OS nodes

You'd need to set up iSCSI to get this to work for Windows Server 2008.
Server 2k8 doesn't support the SCSI in Virtual Server for failover
clustering.

There are good software iSCSI solutions that can allow you to set up a
simple test environment. I use StarWind Software's version, and like it a
lot. They have a limited (but sufficient for a test environment) version
that is free, I think.

Thaks Charlie!

I wonder if it would work by putting one Windows 2008 Storage server in the
same virtual environment.

WSS can be an iSCSI target, yes. See
http://blogs.technet.com/storageserv...t-3-2-faq.aspx
for a current FAQ on it.

iSCSI is great for your lab. If you want to use it in production,
here are some things you should consider.

See the article "Parallel SCSI support in Windows Server 2008 Failover
Clusters has been removed" at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947710
